Valbona: The Pearl of Winter Tourism
The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, shared on social media the stunning landscapes of Valbona, a gem of winter tourism. Alongside the hospitality and excellent service provided by local guides, this destination offers a safe tourism experience. The recent snowfall has enhanced the beauty of this part of the Albanian Alps. Amidst the pristine white landscape, the vibrant blue color of the river winding through the valley stands out.
Valbona Valley is one of the unparalleled wonders of Albania’s alpine nature. It is located in the northernmost part of the country, east of the Alpine mountain range, near Tropoja. Valbona Valley begins at the Valbona Pass to the west and ends at the Drin Valley to the southwest, very close to the Fierza Hydropower Plant dam. The valley stretches 50.6 kilometers from the Valbona Pass to the Drin River.
The valley is the most visited tourist area in Tropoja and one of the most frequented destinations in the Albanian Alps, second only to Theth. This area of rare beauty is favored not only by local tourists but also by international visitors, who are eager to explore the traditions and customs of Albania’s northernmost villages.
